No dungeons really(simply going down floors I think you mean right?) more or less everything has a point to it if you want imagine different areas as different floors, there is an ice cave that comes closest to what you want so try that out sometime

thinking of the old style dungeons, gloomy hallways, traps, monsters around every corner....just would love to lead a group through a dungeon with only a torch to find our way...

the dungeons can stay with Diablo 2.... Guild Wars is about open space, and group efforts in missions. i wouldnt want to be walking through a frikken corridor in a dungeon and have like... 20 White Mantle Knights rush me from all sides and stab me 2 death while im trying to move away, but being stuck because there is no room to move! The Riverside Province mission is a good mission, for its open spaces, and lots of White Mantle... I once took on every single White Mantle I found, and we actually killed them all! but then again, we had 4 W/Mo tankers, and 2 Ele/Mo's so we were healing all the time...
'nuff said...

The catacombs in pre-searing should qualify as a dungeon. Maybe we will get access to it post-searing in an expansion.

roflmao! D1 was proness all wrapped up in a internet environment that welcomed hacks and cheats, but being new and all, D1 didnt have any hacking programs out yet... but that was when it first released... after that, when all the hackers showed their "uber skillz", it just got really boring and repetitive... but then again, i was one of those ppl who used those programs, but just for giving away items and stuff. I would create a game called "SHOPPING", and just stand by the big rock leading to the monastary and wait for ppl to come in and tell me what they would want to buy
but, back to the talk about dungeons and stuff... If they are the same size as the ones in Diablo 1 and 2, then i would strongly hate them... a game just isnt fun when your cramped into a tiny corridoor with like, 5 other ppl...

Well I was in a all legit guild so running into hackers wasn't that big of a deal.
Lmao I just remembered PvP in D1. Mages pwned everything in sight. Course warrior on warrior fights could be fun(or extreamly boring, just sitting there hacking away to no effect). The Talon was a kick ass sword, freaking fast.
I wonder if I still have D1 stashed away some where.
And I dunno, it would add a intresting element when you would be cramped like that. Though I don't think many people would enjoy it.

The catacombs makes for a cool dungeon. I still haven't seen it all simply because of the corridor of death - the one corridor with 2-4 undead per pillar. Reportedly you can go *anywhere* in ashelon via the catacombs if you know your way.

If we do end up seeing 'real' Dungeons - closer to the vein of what most RPG players would expect - it won't be until Chapter 2, for (as is my understanding) the architecture to support 'true' indoor areas isn't in place for Chapter 1 (which is why we can't enter buildings in town, or things of that nature.)
Judging by what we have to go off .. the Catacombs, and the (several) Ice Caves, if and when we do get areas like this, i'm sure that they will be impressive and worth the wait.

I think a massive underground dungeon is what should be up next for the 1st expansion since we have all met with a beautiful wide open landscape. Underground can be pulled off with the same expectations. Think Menzoberrazan in scale for large open areas and of course the classic narrow constrictive halls where manuevering is next to impossible.

well, if the GW ppl ever make a Dungeon expansion pack, they should deck the dungeons out with gems, and make it all shiny... not like the dungeons and catacombs in D1... they just look freaky...
you can probably tell that i hate dark and dank dungeons... and catacombs of course...

So far I found a way from Regent Valley, green hills , and ascroft from the catacombs. One time I got somewhat far in there solo, but there was probably a whole lot I missed.
